Their mechanical endurance and precision of cutting is a big advantage. They are manfactured in several series depending on transmission, blade type and material to be cut.
During field work when you have unlimited access to the cable it is advised to use E, ES and ER Series leveraged cable cutters. For grater diameters there are HC Series ratcher mechanism cutters.
For underground or high altitude work the most suitable are ratchet mechanism cutters of EC, VC, HC or K Series. They differ in built and purpouse of use. There are two types of blades available: round and open. Transmission ratio can be adjustalbe.
Ratchet mechanism HC Series and hydraulic cutters are most suitable for greater dia. cables (up to 92mm). Among hydraulic cutters the series are devided depending on transmission (hand, foot, pump units), blade type or sort of material to be cut.
BAUDAT tools are made to cut Cu and Al cables, steel and AFL cords, structural steel and Cu and Al steel armoured cables. Not using cutters to proper material type may cause blade and transmission damage and loss of warranty.
